Orange California was incorporated in 1888. In earlier years, 1869 two lawyers (Chapman and Glassell) accepted 1385 acres of land for legal fees from Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana. This land was laid out as the beginnings of the town including the well known Plaza one of the community symbols. Today, the Historical Plaza area contains approximately 1300 homes and buildings on the National Register of Historical Places (1997). The Plaza is registered on the National Register of Historic Places. The city land area is 27 square miles. Transportation includes the OCTA, Railroad/commuter train and Freeway access with major Airports within close proximity. A variety of shopping options are found at the Village Of Orange and the The Block. Many eateries and fine dining are found thru-out the city.

The History of Orange
The city of Orange was originally given the name Richland. It was discovered that another city in the state had already been named Richland so the name was changed in 1875 to “Orange”. The community farmed various crops and found success with “oranges”. In 1880 Southern Pacific Railroad built a depot in town. By 1929 820,000 boxes of oranges were being produced from just one packing in house in the city. Today the city flourishes with great opportunities for all. Per web findings the city population is
approximately 134,950.

Single family average price for homes sold in the city of orange, according to the Socal MLS, in the year 2008, was $567,428 @ $294.84 sf 2008. Its proximity to regional and international airports makes Orange a great place to live for all kinds of individuals. There are all types of Orange real estate to choose from, including estate size lots, upscale condos and more. When it comes to Anaheim real estate, there’s a home for you.

Education
Within the city you’ll find Chapman University, Cal State University of Fullerton, University of California Irvine, Concordia University, and many Junior Colleges (including Oranges Santiago Canyon College.

Hospitals and Care
Orange is home to 4 hospitals (St Josephs, UCI Medical Center, CHOC Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Chapman Medical Center) along with numerous surgical centers. A wide variety of services and choices exist in our community.
